The Itanium Solutions Alliance (ISA), a consortium of industry leaders of which HP is a founding member, recently announced a collective investment of $10 billion to drive the adoption of the
industry-standard Itanium platform over legacy, proprietary alternatives. This investment leverages the growing momentum in enterprise and technical computing environments for Itanium-based
solutions, with Itanium platform revenue currently equal to 58 percent of Sun SPARC and 33 percent of IBM Power 2 market shares. More than 6,000 applications currently run on the Itanium
architecture.
