The Compaq C++ for OpenVMS Alpha compiler has been designed to optimize performance at the highest level of quality.

Compaq C++ for the OpenVMS Alpha Operating System is a native programming language product, which generates optimized object code without employing an intermediate translation to C. Compaq C++ for OpenVMS Alpha is based on the ANSI/ISO C++ International Standard. In addition to this standard, C++ supports the ARM, CFRONT, and MS dialects.

highlights

  • Commitment to higher performance with faster compile time, faster runtime, reduced object size
  • Industry-leading support for the ANSI/ISO C++ international standard
  • Includes C++ Standard Library, with Standard Template Library
  • Facilitates porting to Compaq C++ from other C++ implementations
  • Year 2000-ready
benefits

Reduce Compile Times - spend less time waiting for compiling to complete before beginning testing and debugging.

Save Time and Cost with Portable and Consistent Code - Compaq C++ is based on the ANSI/ISO international standard

Save Memory - Compaq C++ produces smaller object files and executables, using less memory and improving performance

Increase Efficiency and Productivity - support for multiple C++ dialects means one source code stream can be used for application deployment on several platforms with different operating systems. Users can instruct the compiler to use any one of the following supported dialects: Microsoft Visual C++, Standard Mode (strict or relaxed), ARM, CFRONT

Application Deployment - One source code stream can be maintained, while the application is deployed on Compaq Alphaservers and Alphastations without any platform unique code.

Comprehensive Documentation - instant information with online and hard-copy documentation

Year 2000 Compliance ensures IS investments are protected

Software Service Contracts Available - Compaq Services software experts can assist customers in troubleshooting and diagnosing difficult and unexpected problems, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day

C++ multiplatform application development

  • Develop applications with the Compaq C++ compiler, which supports procedural and object-oriented programming. Compaq C++ supports common language features on OpenVMS and Tru64 UNIX and also gives you an enhanced /STANDARD:MS option that allows many programs to be developed on Microsoft Visual C++ and compiled on OpenVMS.
  • Deploy OpenVMS applications running at peak performance on a variety of Alpha 64-bit processors
  • Manage applications with the Compaq's programming tools, DECset for OpenVMS and DEC FUSE for Compaq Tru64 UNIX. Compaq's integrated programming tool suites support coding, debugging, testing, and maintenance activities.
