HP Secure Web Browser for OpenVMS

“HP Secure Web Browser for OpenVMS (based on Mozilla) on Integrity and Alpha will be retired by February 2010. Alternative browsers available on OpenVMS are:

  1. HP Firefox Web Browser (based on Mozilla Firefox), available only on OpenVMS Integrity http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/products/ips/firefox/index.html
  2. Secure Web Browser (based on SeaMonkey), available on both OpenVMS Integrity and Alpha http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/products/ips/cswbs/cswbs.html

Hewlett-Packard is pleased to provide you with the HP-supported, customer release version of HP Secure Web Browser for OpenVMS (based on Mozilla).

SWB Version 1.7-13 for OpenVMS Alpha and I64 is based on Mozilla M1.7.13.

The Secure Web Browser is based on the Mozilla open-source project started in 1998 by Netscape Communications Corporation. The Mozilla Web Browser is designed for standards compliance, performance and portability. Mozilla is the code base used for Netscape 7. More information on Mozilla can be found at www.mozilla.org.

SWB is licensed as part of the OpenVMS operating system license and provides a full-featured, customizable browser with integrated web-browsing and security; HTML document creation and editing; clients for mail and news; and an available IRC (Internet Relay Chat).

SWB includes support for the following features:

  • HyperText Markup Language (HTML 4.01)
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS1/2)
  • Document Object Model (DOM1/ 2)
  • eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
  • Resource Definition Framework (RDF)
  • Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
  • Java and JavaScript
