For those new to the HP PATHWORKS and Advanced Server products, forget any rumors you've heard about "the complexity of PATHWORKS licensing." For PATHWORKS veterans,
if you were ever confused by PATHWORKS licensing in the past, the following simplified business practices should put you at ease. This is all you need to know:
There are only four active PATHWORKS products:
- PATHWORKS 32, v7.4
- Advanced Server v7.3B for OpenVMS
- PATHWORKS v6 for OpenVMS (Advanced Server)
- PATHWORKS v5 for OpenVMS (LAN Manager)
There are only two licenses:
- One license that covers all PATHWORKS applications (PATHWORKS 32, V7.4) and
tools software for Microsoft platforms. Terms for this license follow industry standards for desktop
software.

- One license that covers all active Advanced Server products (Advanced Server v7.3B, PATHWORKS v6, PATHWORKS v5). For HP servers, the terms of this license provide
the same access options as the Microsoft Client Access license for Windows NT servers; however, the Client Access license for HP servers includes fewer
restrictions, providing significant flexibility
