The Question is:
We have a user who connects from home. He creates an X session. However,
whenever the lease expires for his DHCP assigned IP number, and then it gets
renewed, all his decterms die, but the X session doesn't die, and others
windows are not affected, i.e.
like window manager. Is there anything specific to decterm that would cause
this? Is there any way to increase any timeout paramaeter to fix this? If it
matters at all, we are using Multinet network software on VMS, and he's
connecting from a mac usi
ng exodus software.
The Answer is :
One obvious approach would be to increase the lifetime of the address
assignment. As that is clearly not feasible here, further details on
the particular failure(s) reported to DECwindows when this occurs -- in
particular, the contents of the DECwindows server and the DECterm log
files -- will be of interest. Please contact the Compaq Customer
Support Center directly.
Please contact Multinet for assistance with the Multinet software.
