Remote DECserver terminal server?

» close window

The Question is:

I want to use VT200 terminals to access a remote OVMS computer. How to connect
a local DECServer to a remote OpenVMS computer over a WAN via routers?

The Answer is :

Were this particular unspecified DECserver capable of IP, the OpenVMS
Wizard would assume this question would not have been asked. (LAT is
tailored for use on a LAN and is thus not a routed protocol, and use of
LAT for remote access requires use of a bridge or switch.) Use of a
DECserver or other terminal server that does provide IP capabilities
would permit remote access to an OpenVMS host (itself with the Compaq
TCP/IP Services or third-party IP package installed and configured) via
an IP network and IP routers.
