IP Address and Host Name Translations? (DNS/BIND)

» close window

The Question is:

We run a single node on AXP/VMS. We need to set up the IP services to
recognize a DNS name and resolve it at another IP address. We do NOT want to
set up a DNS on the Alpha. We do not have the manual for TCP/IP.

Thanks for your help.

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS documentation -- including the TCP/IP Services documentation,
if that is the IP stack you are using -- is available via the URL website
referenced in the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

You can choose to run DNS/BIND locally, or you can use a remote DNS/BIND
server, or you can use the local static host name database. Details on
configuring DNS/BIND (if required) and on setting up the local static IP
hostname database are included within the available TCP/IP Services
  management documentation.
